Create or import a design

Step 2 of 5 in Define credential designs and claims.

credentialType, bindings and displays are required. credentialType sets the format (SD_JWT_VC, MSO_MDOC, W3C_VC) and its identifier (vct, docType, or W3C type). bindings (at least one) repeats the identifier as a lookup hint and carries credentialConfigurationId, the id advertised in issuer metadata; it is optional at create and required before issuance. The binding also names the issuer it belongs to. alias is the stable handle inside the tenant, and issuerDesignId links the issuer design. With vctHostingMode: HOSTED the platform serves the VCT document at the tenant's own URI.

Keep the design id from the response. Credential configurations and issuance templates reference the design by id and can pin a version listed in Manage versions. Import fetches an external definition (OID4VCI_CREDENTIAL_CONFIGURATION, SD_JWT_VCT_METADATA, OCA_BUNDLE), stores a source snapshot and persists it as CACHED_EXTERNAL:
